but they do need to watch their back because there are other companies trying to replicate their success. I don't think that Evernote is going anywhere, probably just trimming the fat / culling dead wood (staff or products). If they went belly up then i would be screwed because I count on Evernote for so much of my daily life. The competition between the two products is getting real and it is forced Evernote to focus. Ultimately, I think this is a good thing and we may have Microsoft to thank for this. Overall I think the product is great but I think what we're seeing is that the business was a little too pie in the sky and now they need to run like a real business: focusing on profits. I do think they went in the wrong direction with some of their fringe products (food, etc.) Sure it could be better in some areas but overall, it is great for writing and archiving data. People use their product because it just works. They have millions of users and they have a significant paid user base. I cant really see how the company is "in trouble". I struggle in OneNote to do some of the things I do so easily in Evernote. I use OneNote for work (since Evernote syncing is blocked) and Evernote and I think Evernote is vastly better in functionality except for the editor. People also have a fantasy notion that Evernote and OneNote being alternative products. While I agree that they have a lot of work to do to polish up their editor, I do not think they are dying. It also seems that people think that refocusing the company on their core product is admitting defeat. When reading these articles, I feel like people have a fundamental misunderstanding of what the tool is meant to do. More and more articles are coming out calling out Evernote as a dying company (Links in Index), but I am still not convinced.
